Happy New Year! I’m extremely excited to see the New Year and what lies ahead. I don’t know what it holds, but I’m hoping to see better things in 2019.

With a new year comes something we all joke about: resolutions. Have you made any? I think the normal ones are usually to take better care of our health, lose weight, stuff like that. Well, that happens to be my resolution for this year.

See, I somehow managed to pick up about 50 extra pounds in 2018. I’d really like to get back to a healthy weight, but I’m going to take baby steps. I’m going to be more accountable because I have a few tools at my fingertips.

The first tool I have is my Fitbit. I got it for Christmas last year, and I really enjoyed logging in my water, but I fizzled out on it because I got so busy with life. This year, though, I’m going to be better at logging my water intake. That’s a huge thing for me. I definitely don’t drink enough water.

The second tool I have is my iPhone. I discovered reminders just a few weeks ago, and it is AWESOME! I’ve had the phone for years, but I’ve never really dug deep into what an iPhone can do. I digress. I have set reminders for every day at 8 am, 11 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm to drink water. I have a cup that is 16 oz, and I plan on drinking one of those at every reminder. That’s 8 cups of water, which happens to be the recommended daily amount of water. After I drink the water, I can log it on my FitBit, too! How cool is that?

The third tool I have requires a subscription, but it’s only about $60 a year. It’s E-meals. E-meals is a menu planning service. How it works is you choose the plan you’d like to use (Hint: if you have the app, you can switch around with different plans), choose how many people you’re feeding, and then every Wednesday you’ll get a menu, shopping list and recipes. All you have to do is cook! And recently they linked up with Instacart, so now you can have groceries delivered to your door! How cool is that? Since there are three of us in the house, I chose the plan for two people. There’s enough food for all three of us with rarely any leftovers. The second thing I did was I bounce between the Clean Eating plan and the Paleo plan. Sometimes I grab a recipe from another plan, but those two are the main ones.

There you have it, people! My resolution, my plan, and the tools I’m using to get it done! The only other thing is to get walking again. I’ll give updates on how things are going, but I’m hoping to be back to a healthy weight by Christmas of this year.
