Resolutions: Weeks 16 and 17

Hello, my friends! My apologies for not writing last week. My goodness, though! It’s been a wild ride. I weighed in last week and gained every bit of my eight pounds back, and this morning, my weight was 186.4.

To be honest with you, it’s kind of depressing. I’m moving like crazy, trying to make healthy food choices. I haven’t really sat down much in the last week or so. So, the broken shoulder recipient had surgery on the 17th. It was supposed to be two hours long with an overnight stay at the hospital. It ended up being six hours long, and they didn’t come home until Easter Sunday. Since then, it’s been go, go, go. I have to help them dress, make their food, help them go to the bathroom, give them a bath. I’m also dealing with keeping their bills paid while keeping my own up to date. There’s been a few nights where I didn’t get into bed until almost or after three in the morning. To say I’m exhausted would be a massive understatement.

Even though that’s all going on, I’m trying my best to remain hopeful that things will work out. I did give up my volunteer duties at church so I can focus more on helping at home. That was a huge load off my shoulders. I’ll be honest and say that the liquid vitamins haven’t been taken in quite a while. I’ve put them on the back burner to take care of everything else. I’m also trying to get back into EMeals. There’s been a lot of eating out in the past few weeks. I even broke down and went to McDonald’s. The only thing I get there are the nuggets. They weren’t too bad, but the fries had a funny aftertaste.

In other good news, I’ll be returning to the chiropractor this week. I took a week off to focus on being in helpful caregiver mode, and I’m so glad I did. I feel more comfortable with leaving my caregivee for a couple of hours this week than I did last week. Last week, I didn’t feel comfortable with leaving them to go to another room.

That’s my update for the past two weeks. Soon I’ll be carting someone off to physical therapy a few times a week. Hopefully, I can get these pounds off quickly. It may be the stress of it all in combination with all that fast food. I’m going to lose it again, though!
