Greetings, my friends! I’m sorry I haven’t been faithful to write lately. Life has gotten so busy around here!
I’m writing part of this from home and part of it from the hospital. Mom is having a nuclear bone scan today. It’s a fairly long test; about 3 or 4 hours. Essentially, mom is injected with a radioactive material and then she waits for a couple of hours and then they look at an image of her arm and shoulder and the broken arm should light up like a firecracker.
Yesterday, I planted some marigold seeds and some lavender seeds. I hope they come up. Marigolds help repel mosquitoes and lavender repels something, too. At the moment I can’t remember what.
The peppermint syrup in coffee experiment didn’t happen. I did try putting peppermint extract straight in my coffee though and found out something. You only need one drop in one cup of coffee. Otherwise, it’s just too potent!
Last night I tried a new recipe from the Food Network app. Blueberry Almond French Toast Bake. I used walnuts instead of almonds and it came out okay, but it was way too eggy. Next time I make it I’ll probably cut the amount of eggs in half. Tonight’s supper is tacos, but I’m going to try my hand at making homemade flour tortillas! Again, I got the recipe from the Food Network app, and this recipe is by Alton Brown. As I write this, the dough is resting. I hope it turns out because I love flour tortillas. What’s different about me making them versus buying them is that I’m using gluten-free flour. My fingers are crossed and a prayer has been said.
Another thing I did this week is I took down the winter garland and put the spring/summer one up. I bought some greenery at Hobby Lobby (50% off!), and I still had some flowers from making last year’s spring/summer wreath. I just popped those flowers in and voila!
That’s my creativity for the week. Forgive me if I seem a little out of sorts today. My day started at around 2:30 this morning. I’m still dealing with the itching. The medicine the doctor gave me worked for maybe a couple of days but it never really took the itch away. My next goal is to have my thyroid levels checked. Since changing my diet to gluten-free I’m wondering if maybe it’s causing my thyroid to kind of wig out. I don’t know. I’m trying my best to keep things afloat right now.
I did buy some more apples to make a 1/2 batch of applesauce. My dad came home this past weekend and I figured I’d make a batch for him to enjoy. Just a couple of minutes ago, too, my mom finally got her tentative surgery date: May 26. So from now until then will be gearing up for that, trying to keep her sugar and a1C under control, and maybe get some weight off.
Prayers are greatly appreciated as we embark on this new adventure. It’s a lot to deal with, but the longer we deal with this, the longer I go without work. I’m trying to see if I can make a little cash from having ads on this blog. I know ads are really annoying, and I’m not entirely sure how one makes money from having ads on their blog, but if I can’t keep this blog up financially, I may try to set up a YouTube channel. The downside to that is that y’all would see my ugly face and hear my mouse-on-helium voice.
The upside to a YouTube channel is that I could make a video in the car instead of having to wait until I get a moment to type a blog up. I’m also aware that YouTube has been getting kind of crazy with their rules on monetizing channels? I don’t know. I am leaning more towards that, though, since it’s a little more portable.
That’s the news for now! I have tacos to make, and just found out about an important county council meeting that I should probably go to. Until next time, stay healthy my friends!
