Hello, my friends. I hope you’re doing well during this crazy month.
Life has gotten significantly busier. The gardens are winding down, and I’m planning on my fall bulb planting and possible rose garden.
We’ve also decided to get rid of a bunch of our stuff. Mom and I were talking about Cricket the other day and the subject of death came up. Mom pointed out that she’s 70 now and her health isn’t that great. She also pointed out that should anything happen to her, I’d be the one going through her stuff. I mentioned that when her and my dad both pass, I’ll be the one dealing with everything. The house, the stuff, the storage unit. The conversation then led to all the stuff and questioning what we could get rid of.
I say all that to say that we are decluttering. Well…….we’re trying to declutter. Mom and I are a lot alike, except for stuff. I don’t attach memories to items. Mom does. I can see something and it’ll remind me of a certain time or experience, but mom attaches the memory to the object. She’s scared that getting rid of the item will remove the memory.
So today, I was moving boxes around to prepare boxing up vases and such. Mom got irritated at me, and now she’s off doing whatever. I washed the walls in the living room, dusted, put supper in the crockpot, and managed to get my arm entangled in fly paper. 😳
I still miss Cricket, and so does mom. Things are slowly trickling in that remind us of her. One of the memorials I got came in, and yesterday the cremation certificate came in the mail. I’m still waiting on the humorous memorial to come in. It’ll be a good laugh for us. I hope mom laughs.
Well, that’s my update for now. I have a glass door to clean and my neighbor and his nephews are coming over to pick up our piano. I also have supper to finish and other things to do. Love you all and until next time, stay healthy my friends! ❤️
