Today’s Bible Reading- Genesis Chapters 3-5 & Matthew Chapter 2
Happy Saturday morning, my friends! I hope y’all are having a good day so far. Yesterday I had two things happen. One, my headache turned into a half-migraine. I say half because usually my migraines last a couple of days. This one just went all day but is mostly gone. I can feel it in the background ready to rear its ugly head again, so I’ll be taking it easy today.
The second thing that happened was that we had a proper gully-washer in weather yesterday! I kid you not, the neighbor behind us had a small pond in his backyard, and it’s still there this morning! As I write this, we have a good bit of fog and rain is drizzling. I love these kind of days.
Today’s goals are to get the groceries ordered and clean Gracie’s fountain. I wanted to clean her fountain yesterday, but it didn’t happen. I also need to change the bedding out.
One thing I’d like to do this year is be more conscious of how much gluten I put in my body. Some of you may remember last year I had a bout of itchiness that lasted for months. We kept narrowing things down, but eventually I figured out a couple of things. First, I have incredibly sensitive skin! I’m now using a hypoallergenic laundry detergent, body wash, shampoo and lotion. Second, GMO foods are not my friend. I try to buy items that are non-GMO. For the most part I do pretty well but occasionally I really want a peanut butter cup. I’m a sucker for those. The last time I ate one, though, within 10 minutes of eating it, I had itchy bumps pop up around my lips. It’s not a peanut allergy because I’ve been eating peanut butter and celery as a snack/lunch. I’ve also noticed that when I eat something that’s GMO and/or heavy on gluten my joints ache terribly. Not sure how that’s related but just something I’ve noticed.
One good thing about all of this is that I’ve gotten back into cooking homemade meals. Pinterest has been a good source of inspiration for food as well. I found a copycat recipe for Long John Silver’s batter, and I’d like to try it out in my new air fryer. 🙂 I LOVE Long John Silver’s. I eat it maybe once a year, but I enjoy it. I’m not a fish eater but the fish they use has a good flavor. I think it’s Alaskan pollock. I know they also have cod, but I don’t get that. After I eat it, though, I itch like crazy. I also get welts in my mouth from the hush puppies. Since I have gluten free flour, though, I can adapt the recipe to be gluten free and make chicken nuggies. ❤ If you could see me right now, I’m doing my little happy dance just thinking about it. Just think. Homemade Long John’s chicken nuggies, fries, salad or coleslaw. Wash it down with a ginger ale or sparkling water? Yes, please!
Okay. Enough with the food talk. It’s making me hungry. I have a lot to do today, my friends, and feeling the headache in the background I’ll be moving at a slower pace. Thank God for coffee and hot showers!
Love you all and until next time, stay healthy my friends! ❤
