Early Riser

Today’s Bible Reading- Leviticus Chapter 14 & Matthew Chapter 26 Verses 57-75.

Good morning, my friends. I hope you’re well. It was a cozy day yesterday! The roses really enjoyed their watering, and right before it rained pretty heavy, I put some used coffee grounds around the bottom of them. Mom told me that the coffee grounds really help the plants out. Our high yesterday was in the 60s, and it was rainy/drizzly/foggy for most of the day. It started out cloudy, but then by bedtime, the fog rolled in. It was awesome!

The weather today, however, is a different story. Our high will be 44 and overcast. You just gotta take the bad days with the good days. The tulips are still popping up out of the ground. I have to be careful where I walk when I check on the roses. I almost stepped on a couple of tulips. That would’ve been bad.

I made some progress on the sock yesterday! It was tough going because I wanted to listen to the tv, but I have to count the stitches in each round to make sure I’m not adding or taking away stitches.

Last night’s supper was a hit. Kielbasa and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and peas. That’s usually our New Year’s Day meal, but since Pop wasn’t here for it, I decided to make it. It’s also one of his favorite meals.

I currently have a load of laundry in the washer. It just finished, so I need to get it drying soon. The house is dark right now. Mom and Pop are still sleeping. I was going to go back to bed after I took my medication, but Gracie wanted company while she snacked on her dry food. I’ve been up for about an hour now.

Fridays are usually busy. I order groceries, pick the groceries up, go to the bank, go to the post office and mail out bills. No bills to pay today, though. It’s weird. The groceries are in. I do have to balance the checking account, so that’ll take a while.

I can’t think of anything else, people. It’s been a good morning so far. Chilly, but good. Tonight’s supper is supposed to be burgers and fries. That’s a fairly simple meal to make. I also am going to be making breakfast next week, so probably Sunday I’ll prep the sausage. It was cheaper to get three rolls of sausage and just cut and cook them myself instead of buying pre-cut patties. Breakfast will be egg-in-a-hole, sausage and fruit, and lunches will be a plowman’s lunch. I found that idea on the Food Network app. Ina Garten had a recipe for one. I’m adjusting the recipe to fit our flavor likes, so no celery and radishes. I have baby carrots, grape tomatoes for Mom and pickled beets. I also have some fruit, too. I bought a block of mozzarella to cut up, and I did manage to get a fully cooked quarter of Virginia ham. It actually sounds really delicious. You basically make a smorgasbord of all of that and everyone munches on it. It’s a great thing for us because all three of us just graze for lunch.

Well, that’s my update for today. I hope to have some time to work on the sock today. We’ll be in cold weather for a few days now. Kind of sad, but I guess you get crazy weather with crazy times.
