Life

Another Year Older

Today’s Bible Reading- Ruth Chapters 1-4 & Luke Chapter 11 Verses 29-54.

Good morning, friends! I hope you’re well. I missed writing yesterday so our Bible reading will be a day off until Sunday. I’ll post a catch-up then.

Yesterday was my 34th birthday. It feels so weird to turn that number. I feel like an 18-year old. Just about every year it rains on my birthday. I used to hate it, but now I love it. It didn’t rain until about 11:30 last night, but what a storm! I was in bed watching a scary video, and I got so creeped out I had to turn it off. There was lightning and hail and the heavens unleashed all the water in their rain clouds. At first, I saw flashes of light but didn’t hear any noise. I craned my neck to look out the window and realized it was lightning. Then, within maybe a minute or less, I heard super loud something hitting our roof. We have a metal roof, so it was even louder. That’s when I realized it was hail. The hail came before the rain. So weird. I fell asleep, though. I don’t know how long the storm lasted. I haven’t checked outside yet, but I hope nothing was damaged.

Gracie had an episode this morning but she bounced back fairly quickly. That gel is really helping her, thank God.

I had a wonderful birthday. We went to a local produce store down the street, and then we went to Lowe’s and I got some tomato plants (my seedlings aren’t going to make it) and I purchased some Neem oil to spray on the roses. Something is munching on them like crazy. Mom said it’s probably aphids. After Lowe’s, we went downtown to a local farm-to-table ice cream parlor/cafe/general store and I got a peach smoothie, a water for Mom and two lemon blueberry cookies. Then, we went to the lake and sat at a picnic table and watched the water while we ate. We were going to get supper early but I found something out. Peach smoothies and lemon blueberry cookies don’t mix. Too much sugar. WAY too much sugar. My stomach and intestines were not happy with me at all. We headed home, and after a bathroom trip, I just hung out a little while and let my stomach calm down. Then, we ordered some food from a place called Groucho’s Deli. I got a chicken salad, and mom got a ham sandwich. We went and picked it up, and called it a day. I did get some presents. Mom bought me some pajamas for summer (mine are threadbare), a couple of outfits, a journal and devotional, a bag to tote my craftiness in, some stitch markers, a crochet hook and some yarn. I’m going to try to attempt a sock again. Pop sent me three orchid plants. They’re super pretty and I’m hoping that God will help me keep them alive. It was a great day. Beautiful weather, lots of sunshine and hanging out with my mom.

Today, it’s going to be overcast with a high of 79 degrees. I do have to get the groceries today, make a trip to the bank and balance the accounts. Other than that, I may try to start planting. I have a feeling the garden will be a clear-as-you-go-along garden. That’s okay. I’m just excited to be getting it going. I’m kind of sad that my seedlings didn’t make it, but the marigold seedlings are dying off too. I’m not sure what’s going on.

Well, friends, that’s all for now. Lots of things to do today. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends. ❤
