Today’s Bible Reading- Ezra Chapters 1-2 & John Chapter 19 Verses 23-42.
Good morning, my friends. I hope you’re doing well today. It’s going to be another hot one here! Our high is expected to be 89° with a 60% chance of rain, but we’ll see how that goes. We never did get rain yesterday. I may have to water the garden tomorrow morning if we don’t have rain today.
Yesterday was supposed to be my grocery shopping day. I decided to go to a local market stand and see what I could find. Mom and Pop went with me. They had some good stuff, and I got a few things there, but I wanted to go to the dairy farm for some cheese and milk. Off we went to the dairy farm. The place was so crowded, we were like sardines in that little store they have, so I gave up wanting to look around a bit and just grabbed some stuff. What I was missing was some meat. I did manage to get two pounds of dried pinto beans and two pounds of dried butter beans, so that can be added to rice to make a full protein. Once we got in the car, I made the comment about really wanting to get some meat, but they were pretty wiped out on some stuff. So, Pop got on his phone and looked for nearby places. We ended up going to another farm, and they had some pork. That’s all they had. The beef processing company they use is so booked up it’s ridiculous. They managed to get an appointment for August, but after that, the only appointments left are clear into next year.😳
I did get some pork from them, and I also got some ice cream. The pork is deep frozen, so I couldn’t split things up into meals. That’s okay, though. Pop may be here a while. We’re waiting on word for a potential job. The company supposedly has the contract, but they haven’t done what they’ve said they’re supposed to do. As of now, it’s up in the air as to whether or not Pop actually has been contracted with them. If that’s the case, then he can work from home. He’ll probably go up and visit Gram for a little bit, though.
Last night, it was so hot, I made supper and we ate it on the front porch. I made saffron rice, and then I chopped up some of the leftover tenderloin we’d grilled and I put some peas from my garden in there! It was absolutely delicious! 😍 I will be making that again for sure! Mom enjoyed it, Pop enjoyed it, I enjoyed it, and I served it topped with slice tomato from one of the farms we’d visited that day. I salted and peppered the tomato. It was so good. I have enough to do it again. I may just do it, too.
As for the garden, I. Waiting to see if my zucchini blooms. The cucumber plants are getting more and more cukes on them. Im also considering investing in a worm compost bin. The one I’m looking at is expensive, but I think it would be a good investment. Then I could start working on making my own compost. That would save a lot of money. I think I’d like to ask the county if they could set up a facility where people can get compost and fertilizer for either free or low cost. There’s plenty of mulch places around, but to have access to manure and compost would be great!
Well, I should be reading my Bible and getting ready for the day. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends.❤️
