Monday Mutterings

Today’s Bible Reading- Psalm Chapters 65-67 & Romans Chapter 2.

Good morning, my friends. I hope you’re well. I’m enjoying the slight nip in the air with my first cup of coffee. It’s currently 72*, but our high is forecast to be 87* with a 20% chance of rain.

The meatloaf turned out okay yesterday. A bit under seasoned for my taste, but a little steak sauce helped. Mom thought it needed some salt. Tonight’s supper will be a salad with grilled chicken, blueberries and strawberries. I need to pull the fruit out of the freezer so it’ll thaw out.

I’ve just finished feeding the cats and changing their water out, and I also picked a tomato for Mom. I was just checking to see if it was ripe enough to pick and it fell off into my hand. I’d say it’s ready.

The gentlemen who mow our lawn came yesterday and the yard looks so nice. Like green velvet. They always do such a nice job. I picked up my garden paper yesterday since I have nothing left, and they mowed over that as well. Kind of a bummer still that my pumpkin plant didn’t survive, but as least I tried! It just wasn’t the time for it I guess.

I’m going to hold off on laying more garden paper down until the wood chips come. That way I won’t have the trouble of keeping the paper down, and it’ll be fresh for the wood chips. I’ll have to look at when I made the request. I think it was a couple of weeks ago now. It seems that the average around here is about 60 days. That means I probably won’t be getting wood chips until next month or so.

Today is Monday, so it’ll be a light day. I have laundry to do, and I need to make Jell-O for Mom. Tomorrow is her liquid diet for colonoscopy prep. I bought her some chicken bullion and she asked for the gelatin. Since I’ll be cooking for just me tomorrow, Mom told me to get something out for myself. I’m going to get nachos from my favorite nacho place. The restaurant is like Chipotle, but local and way better. They also take great care when I tell them I have an avocado allergy.

Anyhoo. Laundry, Jell-o and I’d also like to pull up the cucumber and zucchini plants. The cucumber is still trying to grow cukes, but they don’t look very healthy. I want to pull them up and get the garden box ready for lettuce and carrots. I’d thought about getting some soil and growing lettuce under one of the trees in the front yard, but I’m not sure how Mom would feel about that. Personally, I think it’d be cool to have edible landscaping. Plant some blueberry bushes and some fruit trees. Maybe a walnut tree. Have an herb garden. Just awesome stuff like that. Oh! I’d love to plant grapes and grow grapes.

Well, my friends. I need to get my Bible read and get my shower. I was up early, but I’m low on energy today. It could be the weather. We were supposed to have thunderstorms yesterday, but they never came. It was just very windy.

Gracie is absolutely conked out on her pillow. She’s had a bit of a puny morning so far. She did eat, so that’s good. I wonder if maybe some of the food she had yesterday was a bit questionable in freshness. Thelma wouldn’t touch one of her bowls of food, but I thought that maybe I hadn’t gotten all the soap off when I washed it. I’ve done that before. I’m wondering now if the food was bad and she was trying to let me know. Hmm. I only have one can left, so maybe I’ll not use that and just go with the pouches now. See how that goes. They’ll be starting the new food today, so fingers crossed that they like it. Gracie was trying to eat one of the packages yesterday, so maybe that’s a sign that it smells good. I don’t know.

That’s all for now, folks. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends. ❤
