Identifying the Sickness

Today’s Bible Reading- Psalm Chapters 99-102 & Romans Chapter 13.

Good morning, my friends. I hope you’re well. I am not. I believe my cold has turned into a full-fledged bronchitis. I woke up at 1:30 this morning with a coughing fit and didn’t get back to sleep until 5:00 or so. To say I’m tired would be an understatement.

At one point this morning, I coughed so hard I ended up throwing up in bed. I thought I’d caught it all in my hand, but when I climbed back in bed I realized that I had, in fact, gotten it on my pajama shirt and my sheets. I changed my shirt, but I’ll have to change the sheets today.

I’m exhausted. I just want a really good night’s sleep and to feel that my throat hasn’t been run through a meat grinder.

Needless to say, today’s goal is rest. Plain and simple. I’ll get the sheets off the bed, but that’s about all I’ll accomplish today.

Gracie is worried about me. She keeps her distance, but I can see it in her eyes. I don’t really think I’ve had a case of bronchitis this bad. Well…….no. I had a really bad case a few years ago. Completely lost my voice. I think it took me a good month to get over it. I remember it was during the fall season, and my parents wanted to do our annual trip into the mountains to see the changing leaves. I laid down in the back seat while they admired the view. They didn’t force me to go. I wanted to but realized how badly I felt later on in the drive.

I think that case was worse. I just need to minimize how much I talk today and keep the hot fluids coming. Keep taking the Vitamin D and the elderberry syrup. I ordered some vitamin C from the store, but it hasn’t arrived yet. The C that we had expired in 2013. Ick. I may have a small bottle of C. I’m not sure. I’ll have to look.

I’m sorry, y’all. I went down another rabbit hole. First, I went to go see if I had some Vitamin C laying around and I found two small sample bottles that the Vitamin Shoppe had given me a couple of months ago. Woo hoo! I can add that until my order arrives. Then, I was wondering if there were any Appalachia home remedies for bronchitis. That’s what took me down the rabbit hole. Seems like most everyone is saying hot fluids, rest, and I also found some websites advocating for a hot toddy at bedtime. I remember when I was young, people used to say you drink a shot of whiskey to cure the sniffles. Personally, I’ve never had whiskey, but I’m willing to try it if it works. I know my Mom would pitch a fit, but hey, if I’m drinking it at bedtime, I don’t see the harm.

Well, my friends. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I will work on boosting my immune system, and hopefully I’ll be feeling a little better come Monday. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends. ‚̧

P.S. Our weather today is forecast to be 93* with a 40% chance of rain this afternoon.
