When Depression Hits

Today’s Bible Reading- Proverbs Chapters 7-8 & 1 Corinthians Chapter 14 Verses 20-40.

Good morning, my friends. I hope you’re well. I got hit with a bout of depression on Saturday and it’s still here. Our weather today is a high of 86* with a 30% chance of rain. Currently, it’s 72* and rain expected within the next 20 minutes or so. The sky is pretty overcast as well.

I didn’t get a whole lot done Saturday. My depression really knocked me down. Just the way the world is going right now, plus I had a Coke for the first time in a long while. When I stopped drinking Coke, I realized that it really has an effect on my mood. Yeah. Coke (Coca-Cola) has a tendency to heighten my anxiety and put me in a depressed state. Strange since it was invented to help nerves. Of course, they didn’t have all that junk in it either that they put in it now. When we got our food Saturday, though, Coke was all that was available.

I was supposed to grill chicken yesterday, and when I pulled the grill cover off, I was met with another black widow. Why they have chosen this year to make nests in the grill I don’t know, but it threw me for a loop. Widows are like octopi. They’re not smart, they’re intelligent. This one tried to hide in the corners of the grill, and for a good 15-20 minutes, I couldn’t find it. I ended up using tongs and placing the charcoal in one at a time and then lighting it. The thing still wouldn’t come out. Eventually, it just got too hot for it, and it came out. I brushed it off the grill with the broom and then smooshed it. My skin was crawling the rest of the day.

I did manage to get a few rows done on the sock. I’m inching ever closer to the next part, the heel. This particular pattern is a little difficult to understand at that point, so I’ll be taking it very slow.

Today is a holiday, so no mail and no recycling center open to take boxes. My neighbors in the back that are caddy-corner to us are plowing up their garden space.

I’m not sure what I’ll accomplish today. My laundry is overflowing, and I need to spray the grill down and see if any more widows are around there. I’m not looking forward to that. I’d like to work on the sock as well. We’ll see what happens.

On the bright side, my herbs are doing fairly well. The sage and basil are doing fabulous. The parsley is starting to fill out a bit, but the others are still just little sprouts. I gave them a good water this morning. I’ve only been up since just before 8:00, so I’m still trying to wake up. I’m on my second cup of coffee, but no luck so far. That could be the depression, though.

That’s all I have for today, folks. I may sit outside today and get some fresh air while knitting. That may do me some good. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends. ❤
